The Morrison(****)
The Morrison has 84 of the most stylish and comfortable rooms in the city, designed by Douglas Wallace and fashion dynamo, John Rocha. Soothingly monochromatic in black, chocolate and cream, each room is a tranquil haven of understated luxury, from the white linen to the state-of-the-art sound systems. The bathrooms are a combination of lime-stone floors, mosaic tiles, with luscious fragrant products. All rooms are equipped with television, VCR, modem connection, 2 telephone lines, voice mail facility, private bar and safe. There are also three mini-suites located in the original Georgian part of the building overlooking the River Liffey. These rooms have teak floors, luxury furnishings, walk in shower, double sinks and fresh flowers. In addition, the penthouse offers a giant-sized sunken jacuzzi bath, steamroom and sauna and a huge frosted TV screen visible on two sides from both bed and bath.
One of the best locations in Dublin, the Morrison is situated right in the heart of the city. Dublin's cultural quarter Temple Bar, renowned for its restaurants and night entertainment is a two minute walk via the Millennium Bridge. The hotel is also within close proximity to many of Dublin's theatres, art galleries and museums. The Morrison is on the North Quays close to Dublin City's Financial Services Centre at Customs House Quay. It is 12km from the airport.
At the Halo restaurant the food is artfully presented by Chef Jean-Michel Poulot working with only the finest of Irish ingredients. The Cafe Bar is set in the front of the hotel and is available for tea, and serves a light cafe bar menu for pre and post theatre guests.
Known as the Fair City, Dublin has many striking Georgian buildings and is famous for its cultural and entertainment venues. The buildings and grounds of Trinity College are great to explore but the focus of any trip is a visit to the famous Book of Kells, a magnificent 1200-year-old illustrated manuscript, and one of the oldest books in the world. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the city with a walk in Pheonix Park which is also the home of Dublin Zoo. A trip to the Guinness Hop Store gives the visitor a chance to sample all things Guinness, including a glass of the black stuff. Dublin Castle is the heart of historic Dublin and visitors can admire the Gothic interior of the Royal Chapel and the expansive collection of Middle Eastern and Asian books and other artefacts in the Chester Beatty Library.
